Towson, MD/Atlanta, GA -- Families with critically ill children coming to the Johns Hopkins Children's Center or Kennedy Krieger Hospital for treatment have a new alternative for short-term housing. Lane Company, which manages The Quarter luxury apartments in Towson Maryland, has donated a year's lease to the Believe In Tomorrow Children's Foundation.
Believe In Tomorrow Children's Foundation provides unparalleled hospital and respite housing services to critically ill children and their families. The foundation's two current hospital housing facilities - the Believe In Tomorrow Children's House at Johns Hopkins and the Believe In Tomorrow House at St. Casimir, in Baltimore's historic Canton area - consistently operate at a 99% occupancy rate. The fully-furnished first-floor apartment at The Quarter will give the foundation another location to offer housing for families with critically ill children.
"Our team has already been volunteering and donating food and services to Believe In Tomorrow," said Lane Company Senior Regional Manager Michele Folino. "We heard there was a waiting list, and since we're all in the housing business, donating the apartment was one more way Lane Company could help."
"Having an additional housing option to offer families who are dealing with a child's medical crisis, expands our ability to keep families together under one roof during a child's treatment. It eliminates the stress of commuting between the hospital or treatment facility and home and it eases the economic burden for families who are often overwhelmed by medical bills," said Brian Morrison, Founder and CEO of Believe In Tomorrow children's Foundation.
Each apartment at The Quarter, a brand new community, has large floor plans, energy-efficient appliances, modern kitchens and a washer and dryer. The community also has a luxury swimming pool, fitness center, Pilates/yoga studio, media center, landscaped piazzas, coffee bar, meeting room, wireless hot spots, controlled-access entry and controlled-access parking.
