C&W's Joe Casey wins NAIOP-Maryland Award of Excellence

Joe Casey, SIOR, a senior director with Cushman & Wakefield, Inc., was selected to receive a 2010 Brokerage Award from NAIOP-Maryland. The Brokerage Award is awarded to individuals based on the following criteria: professionalism, service to the community and NAIOP, degree of difficulty of transactions, lifetime in the business and deal volume. Casey, along with 17 local companies in 31 different categories, was honored last Thursday at the Awards of Excellence 2010 gala at the Baltimore Museum of Art.

Casey has worked in commercial real estate brokerage since 1965. He has served as president for the Greater Baltimore Board of Realtors, the Maryland-Washington chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR), Maryland/Washington Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), and SIOR's Educational Trust Foundation. He currently serves on the Advisory Board of Downtown Partnership of Baltimore and was a Board member of Midtown Academy - a Baltimore City Charter School.

Casey received both his bachelor's degree and master's degree in Real Estate from Johns Hopkins University. He helped create and served as the first chairman of the Real Estate Advisory Board of the Johns Hopkins Real Estate Program and was a member of the Advisory Board for Johns Hopkins University's School of Professional Studies in Business and Education.

The award was presented by Abby Glassberg of CB Richard Ellis and the NAIOP Awards committee. "Those of us who know Joe would say he is a man of the highest integrity and ethics, always eager to mentor young people entering the field of real estate," said Glassberg. "He has a desire to keep pushing himself and others to accomplish the best."

NAIOP-Maryland is the local chapter for NAIOP (www.naiop.org) , the nation's leading trade association for developers, owners, investors and other professionals in industrial, office and mixed-use commercial real estate.
