Baltimore, Md -- MonteVerde, a recently transformed 301 affordable apartment community, today hosted a 'thank you' celebration for state and local officials, select dignitaries and residents for their help and support in the transformation of the property into spacious, comfortable and well-maintained units for low-income seniors and non-elderly persons with disabilities.

"We are here today because we all worked together toward the common goal of developing this beautiful community so that the residents could live in attractive, secure and well-maintained apartments ," said Andrew M. Vincent, director of Greater Baltimore AHC, Inc., developer and owner of MonteVerde, formerly Greenhill Apartments, located at 2501-2503 Violet Avenue in the Lower Park Heights neighborhood of the City of Baltimore.

The transformation of the property included updated kitchens and bathrooms, windows, new heating and cooling systems, new wall coverings, floorings and scones in the hallways, a new roof, as well as a new two-story entry linking the north and south apartment towers, was begun in 2008 and completed late last year.

The residents now also enjoy socializing and participating together in activities such as arts and crafts, bingo and other recreational and hobby-oriented get-togethers in the new community rooms located in each of the apartment towers. The well-maintained lawns are also favorites places for residents to relax with friends and family.

Greater Baltimore AHC, Inc also collaborated with Art Connection in the Capital Region, a Washington, D.C.-based organization dedicated to making art more accessible to the community, to provide several pieces of original art that hang in the community and living rooms as well as the office area.

The $30 million purchase and renovation project was financed by $10 million in Low Income Housing Tax Credits and $15 million in bonds from the Maryland Community Development Administration, Division of Development Finance of the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development. Additionally, MonteVerde received a PILOT (Payment in Lieu of Taxes) from the City of Baltimore.
