The University of Delaware has hired Ayers Saint Gross to design its Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Laboratories, referred to by University President Patrick Harker as "our most critical need."
The 200,000-square-foot building on the Newark campus consists of two connected structures to allow teaching, learning and research to come together in an integrated way. It will house classrooms, teaching laboratories, research facilities and space for various energy and environmental policy groups.
In newly structured science classes, students will learn fundamentals of biology, chemistry and physics and will apply those principles to solve problems related to renewable energy and stewardship of the natural environment.
