Hines, AECOM, Whiting Turner to Develop Patuxent River Naval Air Station Office Space

Patuxent River Naval Air Station has selected Hines Interests, L.P. to participate in exclusive negotiations to develop office and office-related facilities on one or more sites selected by the Navy within the base perimeter. Members of Hines' development team include AECOM, The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company and The PMC Group, L.L.C.
The development of the project will involve a long-term government lease of the land and improvements. Hines will plan, design, finance, construct and operate the new facilities. In addition, this project will provide the Navy with fair market consideration for the leasehold for the benefit of NAS Patuxent River.
This effort is being developed under the Navy's Enhanced Use Lease, or EUL, program.
EUL is an opportunity created through the National Defense Act that allows Department of Defense installations to out-lease underutilized land in exchange for in-kind services and/or facilities serving the military and public. This is the second EUL project of its kind undertaken by the Navy in Maryland.
The Navy will ensure the necessary National Environmental Policy Act documentation is completed prior to the execution of a lease allowing site development.
NAS Patuxent River, commissioned in 1943, employs approximately 22,400 military, contractors and government civilians. It is St. Mary's County's largest employer.
Naval Air Station Patuxent River occupies approximately 14,500 acres, including its Webster Field Annex, Solomons Recreation Center and the Bloodsworth Island Range.
AECOM is a provider of architectural, interior design and engineering services. Whiting-Turner was founded in Baltimore and provides preconstruction, construction management, general contracting, and design/build services. The PMC Group is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business providing project management and technical consulting services in the areas of infrastructure, information technology, management, operations, business integration services and real estate with a primary focus on the federal government.
