The Mullan Contracting Company has earned three Excellence Awards from the Associated Builders and Contractors - Baltimore Chapter.
The general contracting firm was cited for work completed on behalf of the Baltimore County Courts Building; Chase Street Apartments and St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.
Baltimore County Courts Building
Known as the "New Courthouse," Mullan Contracting completed demolished the fourth floor and constructed four new hearing rooms, three courtrooms, Judges and Masters Chambers, holding cells as well as associated office space. The four-story building is utilized by the Baltimore County Circuit Court, and the Offices of the Baltimore County State's Attorney among other uses.
Chase Street Apartments
The work for Chase Street Apartments, which consisted of equal parts historical preservation and original construction, entailed the transformation of the original Calvert School - which originally opened in 1901 - into a thirteen-unit apartment community containing modern amenities and features. Mullan Contracting transformed the former school classrooms into studio lofts comprised of a mixture of one and two bedroom units, ranging in size from 600 to 1400 square feet of space. Many of the original architectural elements of the former school, including the main wood staircase, original wood flooring and exterior accents were preserved.
St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church
Mullan Contracting constructed a 22,000 square foot building addition to this Church, located in Parkvillle. The new structure contained a new gym, and also involved the renovation of the existing educational building and administrative area, which included the incorporation of a separate bridal suite and auxiliary rooms.
