Miles & Stockbridge to Open DC Office on K St, NW

Miles & Stockbridge P.C., a law firm with more than 200 lawyers in the mid-Atlantic region, will open a 4,277 square foot office in Washington, D.C., on February 15.
The firm has signed an 18 month lease at 1801 K St, NW. Cassidy Turley brokered this transaction on behalf of Miles & Stockbridge.
1801 K Street, a property managed and leased by Jones Lang LaSalle, is owned by Somerset Partners LLC. The almost 600,000-square-foot property is located in the Central Business District just four blocks from the White House with close proximity to both the Farragut North and Farragut West metro lines.
Initially, Miles & Stockbridge P.C. will have seven lawyers in Washington full-time with another 11 lawyers working in the new office two to four days per week.
John A. Stalfort, chair of Miles & Stockbridge's business department and a principal and board member of the firm, will serve as the managing principal in Washington and work there full-time. John B. Frisch, chairman and chief executive officer of Miles & Stockbridge, will spend two to three days per week in the new office. The leadership team will also include Tara Weintritt, the firm's chief marketing officer, director of client services and a member of the firm's executive committee.
"We need to be in Washington for our clients," said Frisch, who anticipates out-growing the 4,277 square foot spot over the duration of its 18 month lease. "They are working here, have interests here and need our counsel here."
The Washington office will focus on matters pertaining to key client industries: finance and capital markets, real estate, manufacturing and distribution, as well as specific lawyer strengths related to the region, including education, government contracts, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and the 1980 Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction.
"For all of our focus industries, we are in a growth mode and are currently recruiting laterals for whom Washington has been their home base and practice for years," said Stalfort, who counsels commercial and investment banks. "We look forward to announcing additions to our office soon."
Miles & Stockbridge P.C. currently has offices across Maryland and in Tysons Corner, VA.
